Ashley, Photos 1-10

The pill bug or also known as the potato bug has a convex segmented body. With this body type allows the bug to curl up when disturbed.

The stamen of a flower is the pollen-producing reproductive of the flower, that includes an anther and filament.

A phylum of archaebacteria, that produces methane. Many of these species live in animal intestines to help breakdown food and produce nutrients. In return the bacteria get a source of energy.

Method of asexual reproduction is sporulation, to produce spores.

An organism that can make its own food from sunlight, called photosynthesis.

A goldfish has bilateral symmetry, meaning the left and right of the organism can be divided.

Cambium: the layer of tissue in a tree(phloem) and the wood(xylem). Produces new phloem outside and xylem on the inside in stems and roots.

The cuticle layer of a plant. A non-cellular protective layer that protects the epidermis and provides support.

Endosperm is a substance that surrounds the organism inside the seed and supplies food for it. Endosperm being one of the ingredients to make bread.

Dogs being endothermic, their body heat is controlled by their metabolic rate.

  1. Ashley, You are off to a great start! This is a wonderful example of the type of pictures I am expecting. You did a good job finding items in your daily life and you provided a specific definition for each picture. I am expecting each student to add 40 pictures with a scientific explanation and to add 5 clarifying questions. The total number of points for this assignment is actually 90pts instead of the 100points as stated in the assignment sheet.
