Jess Sharp photos 1-40

Exoskeletons are on the exterior of an animals body to support it and protect its internal organs.

This is an endotherm because it is a warm blooded animal that makes it own heat. Dog.

Green algae can be unicellular. Many are found free-floating in the ocean currents, and are able to survive thanks to binary fission, in which the parent cell divides into two similar parts, and are similar to the parent cell.

The function of Xylem is water and mineral transport from roots to aerial parts of the plant. The  strands in celery that tend to get stuck in teeth are examples of xylem in the celery stalk.

The stigma is at the tip of the style, which is the tube part of the pistil which connects the stigma and the ovary. The stigmas job is to receive pollen and then on the stigma the pollen germinates.

This demonstrates the adaption of  a plant. This sensitive plant has adapted to its eniovrnment by reacting to heat, rapid movement and coolness. It does so to discourage animals from eating it when it moves. The movement is caused by rapid loss of potassium, followed by movement of water out of the cells.

Bilateral symmetry is demonstrated here cause there is a leaf with two sides that are the same and symmetrical.

Phloem is hard to get a picture of in wood. But this piece of wood has phloem in it.  The inner bark in a branch or tree part is the phloem of the plant. The function of the phloem is to carry the sugars from the leaves at the top of the tree to the roots and other parts of the tree.

This is an example of predation. Rather, predation instincts. Predation is an interaction between species in which one species uses another species as food. While this cat won't be getting the guinea pig, it hunts mice and rats that serve as its food.

This is a bean. it is also an endosperm. The outside is the nutritious tissue that the embryos of flowering plants use to grow.

This is spit. It is also an enzyme. Saliva contains the enzyme amylase which helps begin the process of digestion.

This is a variety of wheat that is known as a long-day plant. A long day plant flowers only after being exposed to light periods longer than a certain mandatory length, like in summer.

Wine is a good example of fermentation. Fermentation is caused by yeast interacting with sugars to create something called ethanol.

This plant is an autotroph. Autotrophs use sunlight in order to make their own food through a process known as photosynthesis.

Seed dispersal is the way in which seeding plants spread their seeds around so they can keep their species alive. In this case, and animal carrier is responsible for spreading the seeds around via their poop. This is horse poop.

This is a frond due to the fact that it is a leaf of a fern that is large  and divided.

This red huckleberry is actually an ovary. A ripened ovary to be exact.  The fruit is what the plant depends on for  spreading the embryos around, via being eaten by animals and dispersed that way.

This shows the auxin producing area of a plant. The corn is an example of promoted growth and fruit development. The auxin producing area is at the flowering tip, where the hormones are produced.

This is an amniotic egg, which is classified by an egg that produces a yolk to nourish the embryo.

The stamen is the male reproductive organ of the flower. The stamen have a stalk which is called the filament. The anther and pollen sacs are located at the top of the filament. The stamen is at the center of this organism and it is where the reproductive process of pollination takes place.

Pollinators carry pollen from flower to flower in order to help fertilize flowers.

This is a genetic variation within a population because these little chicks are all part of the same..litter.  Of chickens. The blonde one has a genetic variation that makes it a different color from all six other black chicks in the batch.

At the core of this apple is an ant. This ant is an example of an animal with a segmented body. There are three segments of the ant, the head, abdomen and thorax.

This chicken has skin. That skin happens to be epithelial tissue.  This tissue covers the whole surface of the body. It is made up of cells that are closely packed together and have multiple layers. Its job is to protect the internal organs.

This is the cuticle layer of the plant. The cuticle layer is a non-cellular protective layer covering the outer cell layer of the green top part of the plant. It acts as a protective agent.

This is a CAM plant, that happens to be a cactus.  Cacti and other CAM plants close their flowers during the day to prevent evapotranspiration, or loss of water from its body, and opens during the night to collect CO2.

This is an example of gibberellins. These elongated stems are due to the plant hormones whose main function is to elongate stems.

These are heterotrophic fish. Heterotrophs. They don't make their own food, and have to get it for themselves in order to survive.

This is an example of homeostasis because the cat is drinking to regulate its body temperature and pH levels.

A snail is a hermaphrodite. It is both a woman and a man and can reproduce with a partner as either because it has the sex organs it needs.

These are two beta fish. In separate tanks. Beta are extremely territorial. Therefore, due to their territorial behaviors that include fighting to the death, they have been separated into two separate tanks.

True algaes are all eukaryotes because they have membrane-bound organelles such as the nucleus. This is green algae.

Radial symmetry is when a specimen exhibits no left or right surfaces, with a regular arrangement of parts around a central axis.
This is Tropism. The sunflower is growing towards the sun. because it is a stimulus outside of the plant.

ATP is short for adenosine triphosphate which is a high-energy molecule used for energy storage by organisms. This bunny is getting energy by eating grass.

This is an example of parasitism. In parasitism , one wins, while the other one is harmed. This plant has a chewed leaf by a slug. The slug eats the leaves of the plant, harming the plant and helping it in no way.

Mycorrhizae is a mushroom that forms a mutualistic relationship with the roots of a plant.

This piece of wood shows the cambium of the wood, which is the layer between the xylem and phloem. My finder is about where it is.

These are spores. They are a reproductive structure developed to be dispersed by wind.

This is a man's nipple. It can be called a vestigial structure because it no longer serves any function to the man's life. However, since there is a debate over whether or not mens nipples used to serve a function, the appendix is also located in this male, and is the poster child for vestigial structures because we can live perfectly well without them.

What is the process? How does it make its own heat?

What are the benefits of having bilateral symmetry?

    A reproductive structure of what?

How does the mushroom benefit from this relationship? The plant?
